That’s right folks- finally the marketing for A Serious Man is hotting up. First the trailer, then the first official image and now the first one-sheet poster! It uses the same image I posted up on Wednesday- Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg) on his roof. Click it for a truly giant, hi-res version and make it your new desktop wallpaper.

Also the website address at the bottom of the poster doesn’t do much at the moment (just the trailer but it will very soon I expect. I’ll be keeping my eye on it daily and will alert you all when there’s some action.

The first official image from the Coen brothers forthcoming movie, A Serious Man has been released. It features main character, Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg) on his roof partaking in his favourite passtime…

That’s right everybody- the first trailer for the Coen brothers’ forthcoming movie, A Serious Man is up online. Check it out over at Apple movie trailers in wonderful Quicktime HD or watch below…

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what to make of it. It’s a strange trailer which, I think, is unlikely to draw in anyone who isn’t already interested. There’s just one fleeting shot of Richard Kind, otherwise it completely concentrates on the character of Larry Gopnick played by Michael Stuhlbarg. What do you think?

Thanks to Lachlan for mailing the news in!

WCCO.com has a brief news report about the shooting of A Serious Man dealing with some of the Minnesota residents who have given over their homes to the production. It’s a fun and interesting piece outlining how the crew have been able to make the modern houses and streets look like they’re in the 1960’s. The clip shows Larry Gopnick (the serious man of the title played by Michael Stuhlbarg) having a little fender bender, talks about a nude scene taking place on a porch (ooo-err!), shows the Coen brothers at work and also mentions that the procudtion is three days ahead of schedule, which is ace.

You can watch the clip here (don’t bother reading the article as it’s pretty much just a transcription of the video).

Avert your eyes if you were expecting another all-star A list fest like Burn After Reading. This time it’s low key. The role of the serious man of the title, Larry Gopnick, has gone to a Michael Stuhlbarg (a Coen name if ever I heard one!). He’s previously done some TV work including roles in the awesome Glenn Close starring Damages and the equally awesome (if largely overlooked) Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Here he is, see if you recognise him…

The role of his brother has also been cast and I know you’re going to recognise this guy. It’s Richard Kind who you’ll most likely know from sitcom Spin City though he has appeared in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Scrubs too. Hell, check out his IMDB page- he’s been very busy.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on September 9th. I’m glad it’s been cast this way, with a lack of A list celebs but I’m really, acutely gutted there’s no room for John Turturro. Real shame. It’s been a while since we’ve had Turturro, Goodman or Buscemi in a Coen flick.

From Empire seemingly from Variety.
