File this one under rumour for the time being but the California Chronicle reckons that past Coen brothers stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney are going to to Duke (pun intended) it out for the John Wayne role in the Coen’s forthcoming remake/adaptation of True Grit.

Thanks to Bunnie for pointing this out.

BAFTA have announced the nominations for this year’s awards and Burn After Reading is up for three of ‘em. Perhaps the Coen brothers are getting bored of being nominated for Best Original Screenplay awards but they’ll have to contend with another. This along with Best Supporting Actor and Actress nominations for Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton respectively, makes three.

Burn After Reading has been nominated in the category of Best Comedy of the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Critic’s Choice Awards. It is up against Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Tropic Thunder, Role Models and Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Also Brad Pitt is up for Best Actor. Alas, not for BAR but David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. No Country For Old Men star Josh Brolin is also nominated for his role in Gus Van Sant’s Milk.

Thanks to the ever dependable Bunnie for letting me know!

Great stuff- just stumbled across these…

I’m not claiming to know anything about marketing but, if I were in charge of the PR for a movie, I’d try my best to ensure that this kind of thing was sent directly to the people in a good position to show them to a lot of people at no cost, say… fan websites for example. I don’t know why I have to accidentally find them on the internet…

Nothing to say here other than I found this awesome photo of the Coens with some of the cast of Burn After Reading.

I don’t think anyone needs telling but- top row left to right; Ethan Coen, John Malkovich and Tilda Swinton. Front row left to right; Joel Coen, Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt.

Below is a very brief clip from the Burn After Reading press conference from the Venice Film Festival. Unfortunatley it focuses on the stooopid stuff George Clooney and Brad Pitt are always asked and the frankly insane questioning by one female reporter in particular. Still, great come back from Clooney…

Here’s another, longer, clip with a bit of Joel Coen at the end suggesting they could just as easily have a made a “dog movie” or an “outer space movie”…

Another one. This time Clooney cheekily suggests that the Coens are not actually brothers and that the actors were chosen because they were the cheapest the Coens could find. Annnnd the crazy woman is back too…

At the risk of going a bit Perez Hilton, click here if you feel there’s enough of a celebrity stalker lurking inside you and you can see a bunch of pics of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton at a photo call for the opening of the Venice Film Festival where, I don’t think I need to remind you, Burn After Reading is having its WORLD PREMIERE tonight!
EDIT: Here’s a couple of pics from the shoot with the boys Coen in ‘em- don’t Joel and Ethan look happy to be there :-)

Left to right: Joel Coen, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Brad Pitt, some guy and Ethan Coen

Ethan with Joel doing his best Leon impression…

The more I see of this the more I want to see!

Follow this link right here, or watch them below to see two character trailers for Burn After Reading. One focusing on Brad Pitt’s Chad Feldheimer, the other on George Clooney’s Harry Pfarrer. Funny as hell. Go! Go now, whatchoo waiting for?

Thanks to Blake for the tip.

I’ve stumbled upon some new Burn After Reading promotion photographs. You can see them in the movie’s multimedia page or right here;

After the awesome “red band” trailer for Burn After Reading comes the regular, for all audiences trailer. Do we call these “green band”? Who knows? Anyway here it is. It has quite a few shots that weren’t in the original trailer and some ridiculous examples of cuss words being edited out. Pitt calling Malkovich a “dick wad” is now merely a silence and ”secret CIA stuff” isn’t near as funny as “secret CIA shit“. Pah! Anyway, it’s a good laugh, especially McDormand’s reaction to Clooney’s invention which, if you don’t know what it is you will crease up when you find out (I won’t spoil it). Enjoy.

In addition there’s the International Teaser Trailer which you can watch here. Again this has one or two brief new shots.

Thanks to Blake for mailing me the links.
