According to the French branch of 20th Century Fox both Raising Arizona and Miller’s Crossing are coming to Blu-ray in August. Not sure (yet) if this means JUST in France. I will keep an eye on the situation.

It’ll be interesting to see how Raising Arizona cleans up, while Miller’s Crossing should look gorgeous!

Nothing much to say except – behold…

That’s right folks, Universal Studios Home Entertainment have announced the release of the Coen brothers’ latest, A Serious Man for DVD and Blu-ray. The release date is 2nd February 2010, this is, of course, in the US and Canada. The release will contain three featurettes; Becoming Serious, Creating 1967 and Hebrew and Yiddish For Goys. The Blu-ray will also have some, as yet unannounced, BD-Live nonsense. DVD audio will be Dolby Digital 5.1, while the Blu-ray will feature DTS-HD MA 5.1.

More details as and when I get them.

Here’s hoping the Blu-ray is of the region-free flavour so those of us in Europe don’t have to wait for aeons! Judging by this very reliable resource all of Universal’s previous Region A Blu-ray output has been region-free so I see no reason why this won’t be.

Just a quick note to let you know that Studio Canal is releasing the Coen brothers’ latest, Burn After Reading, on Blu-ray on June 10th.

WOW! I love it when this happens because it doesn’t happen very often but MGM are releasing the Blu-ray version of Fargo in the UK on 4th May while the US has to wait till 12th. I don’t know how this got by me till now but I’ve just pre-ordered it. So exciting!

Pre-order yours for £14.99 on Play.com or £14.88 from Amazon.co.uk.

IGN.com have reviewed the forthcoming 2-disc Blu-ray release of No Country For Old Men which is out in the US tomorrow and should be region free (this is unconfirmed at the moment but the last release was). Initially I was resistant to this release on account of the fact that this is the movie’s second Blu-ray release ALREADY. But is seems it might actually be worth a purchase.

The review, of course, gives the movie itself 10/10 and 9/10 for the both the audio and visual quality but most interstingly is the 10/10 given for the extra features. Apparenly the interviews contained on the first disc (2nd disc is just the digital copy) run to around 5 hours in total!!!

Not sure if this is genuine or final but I just found this;

That’s right folks! Fargo, arguably the Coen brother’s finest movie, is coming to Blu-ray to hi-def it up before your very eyes! MGM are releasing it on May 12th. Bonus features include;

• Feature Audio Commentary with director of photography Roger A. Deakins
• Minnesota Nice (27 min)
• Trivia Nice
• American Cinematographer Article
• Photo Gallery
• Theatrical Trailer
• TV Spot
• BD-Live Boot strap (these are pretty rubbish in my experience)

I can’t wait to see those Roger Deakin’s snowy vistas in glorious 1080p! More when I have it.

To celebrate the release of Burn After Reading on DVD and Blu-ray here in the UK on February 9th, Tiscali are hosting a competition in the form of a game to determine your “Stupidty Quotient” by slinging a bunch of trick questions your way. It’s a bit of fun, try it out and you could win a Nintendo DS with Braintraining (a fitting tie in to be sure).

Thanks to Marc for sending in the link.

In what should be really annoying news but is now something us movie lovers fully expect from the movie studios comes news that No Country For Old Men may see another, more feature-packed disc release. Mostly stuff you can probably find elsewhere on the net, certainly I’ve already seen some of them myself. The most exciting feature for me is the presence of a “digial copy” which allows you to copy it to your iPod, PSP or your portable media player of choice.
More as and when it comes in but, for now, here’s a pic of the cover art for the Blu-ray release…
