That’s right, perhaps inevitably, The Big Lebowski has been porn spoofed. Click this link to see the trailer which is NSFW but only because of language it actually contains no porn.

Enjoy, if that’s the right word.

Thanks to Will for mailing this in…

Not much more to say on this really but here’s the first photo (I’ve seen anyway) of Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn wearing the famous eye patch, from the set of the Coen brothers’ next movie, True Grit! Also below is perhaps the best look at newcomer Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross. Having read the book I’m still surprised by how smart the Coen’s version of Rooster looks. Quite dapper for an alcoholic cowboy…

I found the photos Blanco County News where there are more on set shots.

The Damn Good Movie Club are showing The Big Lebowski on a big screen in my home town, Liverpool this Friday! It’s their first such event but they plan to have others in the coming months. Their next is a double bill of James Cameron’s Terminator movies. Here’s their blurb on the Lebowski showing;

The Dude abides! Come and celebrate the maiden voyage of The Damn Good Movie Club with a night of Dude fueled movie fun.

Come in costume and show your love for one of the Coen Brother’s most enduring works; celebrate The Dude, Donny and Walter as they make their way through a Chandler-esque story of kidnap, mistaken identity, severed toes, nihilists, doodling porn barons, White Russians, bowling and violated rugs!

Of course I’ll be there, abiding with a White Russian in my hand. Will you?

Joel and Ethan Coen are among a dizzying list of Hollywood luminaries to have signed a petition calling for the release of imprisoned Iranian filmmaker, Jafar Panahi. I’ll let the petition speak for itself…

PETITION: Free Jafar Panahi

Jafar Panahi, the internationally acclaimed Iranian director of such award-winning films as The White Balloon, The Circle, Crimson Gold and Offside, was arrested at his home on March 1st in a raid by plain-clothed security forces. He has been held since then in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison.

A recent letter from Mr. Panahi’s wife expressed her deep concerns about her husband’s heart condition, and about his having been moved to a smaller cell. Mr. Panahi’s films have been banned from screening in Iran for the past ten years and he has effectively been kept from working for the past four years. Last October, his passport was confiscated and he was banned from leaving the country. Upon his arrest, Islamic Republic officials initially charged Mr. Panahi with “unspecified crimes.” They have since reversed themselves, and the charges are now specifically related to his work as a filmmaker.

We (the undersigned) stand in solidarity with a fellow filmmaker, condemn this detention, and strongly urge the Iranian government to release Mr. Panahi immediately.

Iran’s contributions to international cinema have been rightfully heralded, and encouraged those of us outside the country to respect and cherish its people and their stories. Like artists everywhere, Iran’s filmmakers should be celebrated, not censored, repressed, and imprisoned.

That’s right, here is some kind of spy shot of The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges as Reuben “Rooster” Cogburn in the Coen brothers’ next movie, True Grit.

I don’t know why he isn’t wearing the famous eye patch…

Having just last night finished reading the Charles Portis novel myself, I am now super, super stoked for this movie. The book is near unputdownable (new word?) and every page oozed with possibilities for what the Coens and Roger Deakins could do. Cannot wait!!! Also Bridges’ Rooster looks a lot more dapper than I was expecting. In the book he’s a scruffy, unkempt alcoholic. We shall see I’m sure.

Original post here.

Shocking headline I’m sure but it’s all in service of the movie, True Grit and thanks to Joe M. O’Connell we can see photos from the set!

Keep an eye on Joe’s blog as he is updating it frequently with pictures and information from the Granger set/location.

According to this on set report the Granger, Texas location for the Coen brothers’ True Grit is costing an eye-watering $23,000 per MINUTE to run! From what I’ve seen of it so far, it might prove to me money well spent. The report also has 20 photos and some video clips of the movie being made, one of which shows Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) and Yarnell arriving in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
