Looks like A Serious Man is destined to be the Coens follow up to Burn After Reading, My Way news has this;

Home Again: Coens Filming in Minnesota

Sep 29, 3:44 PM (ET)

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Will the Coen brothers ever return to their native Minnesota to film another movie? Yeah sure, you betcha! Joel and Ethan Coen haven’t made a movie in Minnesota since their 1996 Oscar-winning “Fargo,” but come March they plan to roll cameras for “A Serious Man,” set in their home town of St. Louis Park, a Minneapolis suburb.

The brothers helped scout locations this summer, said Lucinda Winter, executive director of the Minnesota Film and TV Board.

“They looked in Richfield, Brooklyn Center, maybe Hopkins – neighborhoods that would match the one they grew up in,” she said.

The film is about a Jewish college professor during the 1960s. According to the online entertainment journal FilmJerk.com, the main character is bedeviled by children who lift his wallet, a wife who wants a divorce, an intense grad student and a hot neighbor who sunbathes in the nude. With all of that, “he starts to question the value of life.”

It’s not autobiographical but is based on the Coen brothers’ experiences here, said Bob Graf, one of the film’s executive producers and also a native Minnesotan.

Graf said it’s important to capture the uniqueness of Twin Cities suburbs.

“It’s just plain different,” Graf said Friday from New York.

Thanks to Juan on the brand new forum for the news. Also the new forum’s debut post, may there be many more.

Some new pics from the Burn After Reading shoot have popped up on IMDB. Go check ‘em out using the link here (I’ll add them to the film’s YKFK gallery as soon as I get time).

Thanks to JD for the tip off.

The No Country For Old Men website has been updated. Each section is preceded by an animated clip from the film and has its own looping music. There are wallpapers, AIM icons and a screen saver (coming soon), lots of information on the cast, the movie and the book, an image gallery and, of course, the three excellent trailers.

Wallpaper 3 is particularly gorgeous and shows, once again, how good the Coens and Roger Deakins are when working together. Shame Deakins is not working on Burn After Reading too, which is the first Coen brothers movie to be without him since Barton Fink back in 1991.

In addition I have cheekily used the footer from the wallpapers and used them to concoct 5 of my own desktop wallpapers. You can see them in the No Country Multimedia page (at the bottom). I particularly like this one.

Time magazine’s site has a frankly awesome transcript of a chat that Joel and Ethan had with Cormac McCarthy, terrific author of the terrific novel No Country For Old Men.

Thanks to John and Ulli (a nihlist?) for the link.

Just a little bit of YKFK site news to update you guys on, I’ve finally gotten round to updating the forum. However I am yet to update all of the links to it in the header above, it us a big job because every single page has its own header- a mistake I will never repeat again! Anyhoo you can access it now via this link here and get chatting away.

You will need to complete a short registration to post but are free to read. Please DO pop by and let me know what you think of it or how you think it could be improved. Thanks!

The brothers Coen and the stars of No Country For Old Men did a press conference during the NY Film Festival recently and you can watch it, in all its crappily filmed glory, on YouTube. Links on right. They’re not particularly revealing but still worth your time.
