Another day, another amusing Coen brothers Youtube edit. This time it’s all the “yeahs” from Fargo. Heh!

Thanks to Mark for the link.

Charles Durning will need to introduction to anyone reading this site I’m sure. The fine character actor who brought us Wareing Hudsucker (The Hudsucker Proxy) and Pappy O’Daniel (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award by the Screen Actors Guild. He’s 84 years old now and has led quite a life which would, one day, make a fascinating biopic. He served his country WWII including the Normandy landings on Omaha beach which was, of course, made famous by Speilberg’s Saving Private Ryan and was also the sole survivor of the battle of Malmedy in Belgium. He received three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star for bravery. Hats off to the man and I hope he has many more memorable roles in him.

Some information about shooting locations for Burn After Reading. From Wikipedia – “Clooney, Pitt and Malcovitch have been filming recently in the Mamaroneck area, a susburn of NYC. A scene is being filmed today (9-20-07) @ 78th St and Broadway NYC”. And this interesting article too.

Thanks to Bill for the info.

According to this month’s Empire magazine the UK release date of No Country For Old Men is January 18th NOT the previously suggested February. So that’s a bit better then ain’t it? Now only 3 months behind you lucky Americans!

The cover of the magazine had me very, VERY excited when it plopped through my door this morning. Emblazoned on the front – “The new Fargo- The Coens reboot with No Country For Old Men” I was expecting a good sized article but, alas, just the one page (two if you count the full page pic of Bardem’s Chigurh.

Four new pics from No Country For Old Men have emerged into the wild. You can check them out using the link on the right or sticking with YKFK and clicking here, here, here and here.

Thanks to JD for the nod!

The first (to my knowledge at least) pic from Burn After Reading has emerged. It is of Brad Pitt with a bloody nose. You can see it here.

Thanks to JD.

I’m sure most of you will have read by now about George Clooney’s iddy biddy accident. He and his current squeeze, Sarah Larson, came off their motorbike. Clooney has bust a rib and Larson a foot. They’re fine though and the injury will not hold up shooting of Burn After Reading.

Thanks to Mike for mailing the story in to me.

Bumper news day today folks, primarily because I’ve been too busy to work on the site for about a week. First up and thanks to Navid over on the forums we can all wallow in the splendour of these three awesome posters for No Country For Old Men. Shame they’re not at a higher resolution though.

“There are no clean getaways” Moss

“There are no laws left” Bell

“You can’t stop what’s coming” Chigurh

New desktop backgrounds for most of you I’m sure ;-)

John Turturro has been talking about a possible Big Lebowski Jesus Quintana spin off movie again. In an interview with Gothamist.com he brought it up, pertinent parts below but you can read the whole thing here.

Back on the subject of cult classics, The Big Lebowski has gone on to become one. Yeah, look at that. Didn’t do great here originally but now it has.

Were you surprised by the lukewarm response the film received when it came out? No, wasn’t surprised; I didn’t realize how funny it was.

When I first saw it in the theater I thought, “That was interesting.” But then over repeated viewings it’s just gotten better and better for me. One of my favorite films. It’s really, really, really – It’s really, really good. It’s really, really good! It’s hilarious. Maybe someday we’ll do a little spin-off of it. We’ve talked about it. But we’ll see.

Is there any chance of that? I want to make a Jesus film but Joel and Ethan… We’ve got to sit down. Maybe next year I’ll get them to write it. We’ll see.

Was that your idea to lick the bowling ball? A lot of those ideas were mine, yeah. But Joel and Ethan and I kind of share the same sensibility. And that’s why they were so helpful on my film, editing it. Because I don’t have to explain things to them. They understand. And they know how to make it better.

Empire Online runs a series of quizzes, their “How Well Do You Know…” series. The latest is How Well Do You Know O Brother, Where Art Thou? Pop over and see how you do. I scored 18/20.
